Meet Linda Watson, Dream Run Founder
Dream Run Personal Training was founded by experienced marathon and running coach, Linda Watson.
Linda first discovered running as an overweight teenager. A friend of the family took her running as a way to help her lose weight. In her first competition, the Bronte to Bondi run, she ran in last – the slowest of all the competitors. The following year, she broke the women’s record for the same race.
At 16, Linda ran her first marathon and went on to represent the state at cross country.
She continued running at Uni, before moving into touch football.
For the next 20 years, Linda only ran for fitness as she embraced the world of touch football. She played and coached touch football at a high level, combining her teaching qualifications with training touch football and cross country running at elite schools.
After moving to Brisbane, Linda set a goal to run a half marathon and gradually rediscovered her love of running. Initially running alone, she joined a running club, which built her skills and helped her to enjoy running even more.
She ran her second career marathon at 40, and at 47 ran a marathon a full one hour faster than her first marathon 30 years earlier.
Linda was the Coaching Director and Marathon School Coordinator for the Brisbane Marathon School for over a decade, training hundreds of people working towards their running goals.
During that time, she furthered her education with qualifications in personal training and massage therapy.
Linda has been the Event Coordinator and Race Director for the prestigious Brisbane Running Festival and Twilight Running Festival.
Now based in Byron Bay, Linda continues to coach people of all fitness levels and running stages to achieve their best. Whether it is from couch to the first fun run, through to podium finishes in competitive marathon events, Linda combines her vast running knowledge, with a down to earth and friendly coaching style.
